Players

What is Form and how important is it?

Form is arguably the single most important player skill as it acts as a boost on all other skills so a player with low form will play far below the level that their other skills would suggest.

Form – “I want to play”, “I want to rest”, "satisfied" what does it mean?

"I want to rest"

If a player is in “I want to rest” then you should avoid playing them in friendly games or league game to get them to the state "satisfied" the quickest.  If he is a key player however, you may prefer not to play him in friendly games but play him in league games where he essential.  If you consistently play him, he will start loosing balls on form.

Players may sometime need to rest for many weeks before they get to the status "satisfied".   You will notice as they rest their form will gradually increase.

A resting playing should not be put onto the substitute bench either.  A resting player can be put onto training without it effecting his form.

"i want to play"

Here you want to get play a player in as many games as possible.  Even if he is on the substitute bench, that counts as playing. Eventually he will get to the state "satisfied".

"satisfied"

This is the state you want your players in.  In this state, their form will be stable and should slow drift to going 8+ ball in form.  To keep "satisfied" make you play 6 games in a form week.  This could be 2 league games + 4 friendly games or 6 friendly games.

See Tactics section on ways to set up your team so you don't over work them.

How many matches should a player play depending on condition?

  • "I want to play": play as many friendly and competition games as possible.
  • "Satisfied": play 6 form effecting games: e.g. 2 league + 4 friendly games or 6 friendly games..
  • "I need to rest":  play the least possible competition or friendly games.

When is form updated?

Form is updated Tuesday morning.  This means the form week starts Tuesday and ends Monday.

[fab] tip - I normally check my player's form on Tuesday.  I can then set my tactics for the week to make sure the players that need to play or rest are included in / excluded from the games between Wed-Mon.  Consequently I often don't play on Tuesdays.

What influences form?

  • League games
  • Friendly games
  • All other games (Cups, special top team-challenges or friendly leagues) will only have positive influence

Note also:

  • Being a substitute will count the same way as being in the starting 11. So better not place players on the bench when they need to rest.
  • Training players doesn't have influence on form. This means you can leave players that need to rest on the training field.
  • Players in training camp have their form frozen.  Hence they will have the same form (good or bad) when they leave as when they went in, and nothing can influence their form.

What do we mean with positive influence?

If you don't play your 6 games a week (satisfied player), your player will lose form.  However, there is a backup: if you play enough other games, they will count as 'competition or friendly' games. This positive influence means he will never lose form when playing much other games. So 'other games' will only let your player gain form, or be stable.

I've checked my players form all week but nothing seems to have changed

The new counters starts every week Tuesday morning.   You wont see any change in form on the players until then.

Ive lost form but my player is satisfied and has been playing 6 games a week

If you been playing 6 games a week consisting of a combination of friendly games and league games, eventually you may see a drop in form.  To recover when this happens play only 5 games for one week.  Alternatively to compensate, if you play any form of cups or friendly leagues, then including your main players in those instead as those games wont over tire your players.

Can I get a form of 10 balls ?

Yes you can but its rare to see.  Remember though, even if you cant see whole balls, it could be that your player has 9.9 form but would only display as 9.

Above is one of my players getting the elusive 10th ball in form.

My team form graph has gone down, should I be worried?

The team form and the form graph indicates the average form for the whole team.  For most teams, this isnt very important.  The reason is you may have players such as youths that arent currently playing and their form may be going down which will reduce the average of the whole team.   What you need to check is the individual form of every player that is part of your main squad.

What should my form be?

If your team is correctly managed, all your key players should have a form 9.  If you follow the above guidelines then it is pretty much guarantied.

How are player's salaries calculated?

If the player was with you when you started the team or was a player that you got through the youth academy and now turned seniors, the salary is determined as a % of the player's value in the range of 1-3%.

If the player was bought through the transfer market and you bought him for a lot MORE than this his player value, you will have to pay him a higher salary.   When you place a bid you are given an indication of his new salary.  Over time, his salary will start to decrease back towards what it ought to be, this is calculated at the end of the season.

Do player's salaries go up?

If a player increases skills, his value will go up and you will see a wage increase.

Can player's salaries go down?

If you bought a player for much more than his value, he will have an increased salary.  His salary however will start to decrease overtime and trend towards the salary that reflects his value.

When are salaries re-calculated?

Salaries are calculated at the end of the season or an individual player salary is recalculated when a player is transferred.

What skills are required for different positions

This is a big topic and so here is a page dedicated to this created by matttombstone : Player Skills

If I sack a player where do they go ?

Sacked players live in a pool of players. If they fit the criteria they can potentially turn up in a newly created team.

My player is injured – what happens next ?

There are two phases in the injury process. If the injury isn’t bad then your player may have skip the first phase.

The first phase is Unavailable – When a player is in this phase he cannot play.If you go on that tactic screen you will see that you cannot put him on the pitch.

The second phase is Recovering – In this phase the player is available to play but is recovering from his injuries. Consequently you can put him back on the pitch although there is a risk that he will further injure himself.

Note however, injuries that occur in a friendly league game are not persistent. At the worse the player is injured in that one match.

Can Goalies get injured?

No, they currently cant.

What's the chances of getting a long term injury?

The chances of getting a long term injury is small: 0.125%.  A long term injury could be at long at 90+ days.

[fab] Info from biggreenshoe - this may have been halved after the introduction of two league matches a week

Red cards – what's their effect?

If a player receives a Red card in a league or friendly league game, he cannot play the next match in the same league. A Red card in one league does not effect a players ability to play in another league. This is true for league, friendly league and cup matches.

A Red card in a friendly game has no consequence other than loosing the player for that match.
A Red card is persistent between leagues so if a player gets a Red card in the last game of the league, he wont be able able to play in the first game on of the new season. (this is normal league games not friendly leagues) (thanks to rrgriola for noticing this)

Yellow cards - what's their effect ?

If a player gets two yellow cards in a row in separate games, they will be suspended for the next match. As the rule with Red cards, it only effects the league you are in. If you get two yellow cards in the same game then the player will be sent off but will be able to play next game.

What is the purpose of the Selected/ Not Selected option in the list of players ?

If a player has been set to “Not Selected” he will not appear in the tactic window. You may want to do this when:

- You have players that are going to be transferred out of your club and you can double check that they are not on the pitch in the tactic screen

- You have players you want to rest and you can check that they are not on the pitch in the tactic screen.

If you deselect a player that is on the tactic screen and do not replace him (change the tactic), he will play again in that tactic. Until the tactic is saved again, that player will keep playing, he is just invisible.

When does a player value and salary get adjusted ?

Player value gets adjusted every Monday. Player salaries get adjusted at the beginning of a season.

How many players can I have in my team ?

You can have up to 99 players in your team

How many foreign players can I have ?

You can only have 3 foreign players. Consequently, you cannot make bids that would exceed that allocation. Hence, if you have one foreign player in your team, you could only bid for a further 2.

Do players retire ?

Yes , at the end of the season players that are going to retire announce this.   A player can retire from the age of 32 and will certainly retire by the age of 38.

How can I have players with the same numbers ?

To get players to have the same numbers, assign a bunch of players to an unassigned player value in one go. So for instance, if you currently do not have a player number 50, then got to Players->Changer Numbers and assign several players to the value 50 and press Save.
